THANKSGIVING
Continuing on your journey as a member of a triad, probably you are either consciously
or unconsciously practicing the art of “being” instead of “doing”. In general, we spend
so much time “doing things”, we scarcely have the time just to “be” what Christ wants us
to be, and to give Him thanks for all his many blessings.
One of the disciplines the triad will go through, if we are studying the essentials from
Ogdenʼs book, is the discipline of prayer. Most of us have heard of, and perhaps are
even practicing the concept of prayer, known by the acronym of ACTS. (adoration,
confession, thanksgiving, and supplication.)
This time of the year is a great time to be focusing on the third word from the acronym;
Thanksgiving. Psalm 95:2 says “Let us come before Him with Thanksgiving and extol
Him with music and song.” This morning as I continued reading through this song of
praise, in my mind, I begin to put music to the words of the song we sometimes sing
which are taken from this portion. My heart was overjoyed as the words began to flow
through me. “Come let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our
God our maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture”
And then, a feeling of guilt came over me as I realized how little amount of time I give to
God in adoration and Thanksgiving. I turned to Psalm 103, to see all the benefits that
He gives on a daily basis. In verses, 2-5, He forgives, heals, redeems, crowns,
satisfies, and renews. Is that alone, not enough to keep us going for a life time? But
that is only the beginning. I challenge you all to read on from there through the rest of
the chapter to see all the benefits God has in store for you, just for being one of His
own.
God help us all be made aware of the daily blessings you have for us.
