Many of you, our friends have been praying for our kids for some time now about their unusual plight of family separation. This was caused by some little glitch or technicality in the Spanish Government. In reality, no one knows what is going on, except for God in his infinite wisdom. We know our kids will be alright, and well taken care of, but this time of delay, and the fear of the unknown, keeps us all hanging in suspense and confusion as we wait to see the final outcome. We also know the end result will be for God's greater glory.
Below is the latest prayer request direct from our children. There is still no solution, and probably there are more questions than answers. But please pray for them, especially our grandkids as they are separated from their father.
Hey Prayer Warriors,
Could we ask you to pray for us on Monday, June 20th as Giles goes into the Spanish Consulate in Chicago to finally apply for his Visa? His appointment is at 10:20am, but that is just to hand in the paperwork – no decisions will be made then other than whether or not Giles has handed in all of the necessary documents. Pray that they accept all our paperwork and that God moves quickly and mightily in this process. If the Visa could be approved within the next three months then he wouldn’t have to spend any more time separated from the family. That is definitely the request we are placing before God.
And could you also pray for Deb’s Legal Appeal in Spain regarding her revoked residence card? Our lawyer says it’s a lost cause, but it serves a purpose by at least allowing Deb to remain in Spain with the kids while the appeal process runs its course. But we know that God is able to do exceedingly more than all we can ask or imagine. He could make this “lost cause” actually work and then Deb wouldn’t have to eventually be separated from the family for three months at a time like Giles is currently doing.
As always we want nothing other than His will for us, but we also know that His will is indeed affected by our prayers. “You do not have because you do not ask,” says James 4:2. We don’t want that to be the case here! “This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.’” (2 Chr. 20:15) The pastor at the church Giles went to today preached on this verse…coincidence? We don’t think so!
Thank you so much for your prayers!
God bless,
Giles and Debbie, Micah, Nathan, Rebekah and Jacob
P.S. We should add that God has richly blessed our time apart even though it has been difficult. During the time Giles has been in the States he has been able to start and finish writing one entire book in English and is now halfway through another book in Spanish. This time separated from his family and ministry enabled him to focus and write to a degree that he never would have been able to do in Spain without becoming a really lousy father or missionary! It has also been a great blessing to see God bless Deb and the kids as they are each growing in God and excited to see their father again soon! Giles will be going back to Spain on July 6 as a tourist (don’t need a Visa for that). He´ll be in Spain for a few days to speak at an Intervarsity camp in Valencia. Then he´ll return to the USA for three weeks, to Speak at Timber-lee and officiate a wedding (Isma and Erica are leaders in our youth group in Spain, but since Erica is American, the wedding is in Indiana!) He´ll then be able to return to the family in Spain on August 7. . . but after 90 total as a ´tourist´ there, he’ll have to come back to the States for 91 days before being able to return to Spain…until he gets his Visa. That’s why it would be so wonderful if God were to give him his Visa in the next 90 days.
